Battlefield 6 Reveal Trailer Breakdown – Looking like Battlefield 3 and that’s a good thing!

Battlefield 6 - Reveal Trailer

So Electronic Arts and Dice just dropped the Battlefield 6 reveal trailer – and boy does it look good! If you still have yet to see it, you can do so below:

While we all knew Battlefield 6 was in existence for a long time now, and we got to see some unofficial videos of the various play tests, this marks the official reveal.

Battlefield 6 Trailer Breakdown

The trailer opens up to the President of the United States warming up to the speech he is about to give. Clearly something terrible has happened and he is trying to reassure the public (a tall order considering what we see later)

During his speech he says “… this monstrous unprovoked attack… no country is safe from their reach” – The global threat the President speaks of is posed by the private military corporation called Pax Armata.

The speech is intertwined with shots of soldiers making their way into an apartment in New York City. As they enter, we see what appears to be an US Apache helicopter crash into the room. War has broken out on US soil.

We get to see a look at the Pax Armata soldiers themselves. They are highly equipped and ready to fight. The presidents speech ends with a message directly to Pax Armata – “it’s over”.

The trailer then proceeds to show a collection of action shots showcasing the true destructive natural of the game engine. From tanks blowing up buildings to missiles exploding into water dams. We are also a sneak peak of which is very similar in tone to the infamous Call of Duty 2019 mission “Clean House”.

Battlefield 3 Connections

Many of the trailer harks back to Battlefield 3 and as mentioned above, that is a good thing! Apart from the obvious visual aesthetic that this is set in modern times (as was BF3 when released), a lot of locales in BF6 feel like they have been lifted straight out of BF3. Here are some key mentions:

  • Tanks battles in the desert. Similar to the famous campaign mission “Thunder Run” in BF3 and the multiplayer map “Operation Firestorm“.
  • The derelict buildings, which appear to be in Egypt, feel like the BF3 map Back to Karkland.
  • The shot of the APV’s is extremely reminiscent of the opening of Kharg Island.
  • We also get a shot of the subway (assuming New York) a throw-back to the opening of Bf3 single player campaign.
  • Destruction, Destruction, Destruction! Battlefield 3 building damage but this time on steroids.
  • Shout out to Battlefield 4 and the dam busting too!
