Released in 1995, Street Fighter: The Movie is a weird hybrid fighter based on the live-action film, using digitised actors and a modified SFII engine. It’s janky, but full of hidden codes and unlocks.
Play as Akuma (Hidden Character)
One of the most famous secrets in the game.
Method 1 (Character Select Code)
At the character select screen, quickly input:
Up, R1, Down, L2, Right, L1, Left, R2
If done correctly, a visual cue (ghost-like effect) appears on Akuma, and you can select him.
Works in most modes except certain “Movie Battle” variants.
Fight Akuma (Hidden Boss)
You can actually get a secret boss fight instead of the final opponent.
How to trigger:
- Set difficulty to 8 (high)
- Play through Street Battle mode
- Do NOT use any continues
- Defeat all opponents
Instead of the usual final fight, Akuma appears as the final boss
Unlock Bonus Movie Clip (Ending Reward)
There is a hidden video reward tied to Survival Mode.
How to unlock:
- Beat Survival Mode
Then go to:
- Options / Back-Up menu
You will unlock a bonus music video / clip from the movie soundtrack, featuring character cameos.
Hidden In-Game Movie Clips (Stage Secrets)
During fights on the Komande Centre stage, you can trigger small movie clips on the background screens.
Examples of inputs:
- Light Kick, Light Kick, Medium Punch, Heavy Kick → Bison electricity clip
- Light Punch, Medium Punch, Medium Kick, Heavy Kick → Cammy action clip
- Light Kick, Light Punch, Medium Kick, Heavy Punch → Chun-Li scene
- Start → Guile pose clip
- Light Punch, Light Kick, Medium Kick, Medium Punch → Ken scene
These basically turn the stage monitors into a hidden movie gallery.
Test / Debug Mode (Hidden Menu)
There is a hidden “test room” style feature in some versions.
Try this at character select:
- Down + Start + Weak Punch + Weak Kick
If successful, you’ll hear a sound cue and unlock a hidden test mode or debug-style menu access (varies slightly by region/version).
Character Select Modifier Codes (Advanced Secrets)
At character select, different input combinations can activate modifiers like:
- Combo Mode
- Double Damage
- No blocking
- Speed changes
- Random select
- Tag/team variations
These are usually triggered by holding Start + direction + button combinations before selecting a fighter.
Pro Tip
This game is notorious for having:
- Arcade-style hidden flags
- Debug leftovers
- Region differences between PS1 and Saturn versions
So some cheats may behave slightly differently depending on your copy.
